Old Bedford's Origins

Our master craftsman, Len Bauchner, founded Old Bedford Fine Custom Carpentry in 1995. Since then, the business has earned an outstanding reputation for the design, fabrication and installation of affordable and quality projects, including Built-in Furniture, Stairs, Railings & Other Fine Custom Woodworking in Danbury, CT.

Len graduated at the top of his carpentry construction class at the Tech Center of BOCES in Westchester County, New York. There, he was described by the staff as having an "enthusiastic and real love of carpentry and woodworking, achievable in a very short time what others working in the field might never achieve." Shortly after graduating, he formed Old Bedford Fine Custom Carpentry. His newly formed company was immediately engaged by Putnam County to renovate a County building. After that, clients steadily increased, leading to the successful, established business that Len heads today.

 Planning & Design

It all starts with proper planning and attention to detail. During your initial complimentary meeting and site inspection, we develop an understanding of your goals, tastes, and budgetary considerations. A proposal is then drafted to provide firm costs, including labor and material, with a supporting drawing, if necessary. With this information, you can make informed decisions about your custom carpentry project and expectations. Those looking for quality construction design and execution will find both at Old Bedford Fine Custom Carpentry. All work, whether on-site or in our shop, is performed by a master craftsperson who will produce results that make your expectations a reality.

Building Your Project

To ensure the best workmanship, we take on one custom carpentry project at a time, without interruption, until it is completed. We are not a production shop, and there won't be days at a time with no one working on your project. Every proposal has mutually agreeable start and completion dates, and you can plan your schedule accordingly.
